Suggested needle size: US 7/4.5mm 32" circular for body, US5/3.75mm circular for cuffs and US6/4mm 40" circular for collar/sixth circle. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 22st and 26 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch with size 7 needles

Those of us fortunate enough to have been at the Northwest Needle Market 2007 fashion show were dazzled by Helen Hamann's creations. To get to see her garments close up was a privilege and a delight. I was especially entranced by the captivating beauty of her Round-Cabled Cardigan - believe me, in person it is even more spectacular than these photos can convey. It was, literally, a show-stopper -- everyone's excitement was so intense I thought the model would never be allowed to leave the runway.

Helen's stunning knitting imagination is made even more delectible by her use of Skacel's Divine - it's soft, lustrous blending of alpaca, silk and cashmere melds with round cable forms to take the eye on a journey it never wants to leave. Not to mention that Divine creates a fabric you never want to stop touching. Truly, the Round-Cabled Cardigan is a perfect marriage of creativity and substance!

As a knitting adventure, you'll find it delightful, not overwhelming. The round-cable mandala is worked in concentric circles, one circle building upon the previous circle.The circular effect is achieved through short rows and when each circle is completed, the stitches are grafted together to close the ring. For those knitting the larger sizes, you'll discover that only the back yoke and the fifth semi-circle change - all other pieces of this fabuous sweater are worked identically in all sizes.
